technique or groove

some drummers i know like to display their knowledge of techniques.
Others display their knowledge of rhythms. I think i come in the 2nd category. i want a working knowledge of rhythms to play with rather than an arsenal of sideshow stunts. I think one must have competent technique to get their ideas across. But mostly i need to know what i want to play rather than how to play. the latter will come naturally while the former takes research. that's just how i see it fit my personal [......]
