Smoother Scales

I wonder why there are so many differences between the different minor scales. There are:
-The harmonic minor scale
-the melodic minor scales (going up)
-the melodic minor scales going down.
Why are there so many different minor

Hello everyone!
So, I'm a newbie that's been studying for a couple of weeks and I am currently learning the Major scale. I got it down so I can play pretty much any of the 12 scales at pretty high speed so I guess thats the good news. The bad news is
This is a list of All major scales, and their relative minor scales, PLUS the accidental they have in them.
The order of sharps can be remembered by memorizing this sentence. Father Charles Goes Down And Ends Battle.
