(Almost) everything you'll ever need to know on modes and scales!
Hey there, guys. Since there has been a little bit of confusion about modes, keys and scales, I figured I should make a topic about it. I'm currently a 7th year piano student and I have done my fair share of theory and passed all three exams with respectively a 10, a 8.5 and a 9. (Out of 10)

Let's start with the most basic scale of all:

I wonder why there are so many differences between the different minor scales. There are:
-The harmonic minor scale
-the melodic minor scales (going up)
-the melodic minor scales going down.
Why are there so many different minor
I'm still rather not-so-good at the piano. I'm not awful, but I'm not *great*, but I am pretty good at guitar, and what I've learned about music theory has helped me quite a bit, as far as composing music goes. And I don't even completely understand it, s
